HOW TO APPLY FOR THE CYPRUS TEMPORARY RESIDENCE PERMIT
(aka 'PINK SLIP')

Date: 16th January 2025

WHAT IS THE CYPRUS 'PINK SLIP' ?
If you want to stay in Cyprus for more than 90 days, then you need to apply for the Cyprus Temporary Residence Permit or 'Pink Slip'. This permit allows non-EU, non-EEA and non-Swiss citizens to stay in Cyprus for more than 90 days, as a visitor with his/her spouse and children under the age of 18, without having to leave the country when your 90 days visa expires.

The Pink Slip is valid for one year and can be extended yearly for four years, but there is a rule that you must not stay outside Cyprus for over three months straight. If you do, the original permit is cancelled and you will need to make a new application process. The permit can include family members (spouse, dependent children, and parents). Note that this permit does not allow you to have salaried employment work in Cyprus. However, you can work remotely or you can setup your own business and receive share of profits or dividends.

REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY FOR PINK SLIP

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Financial Means: You must present proof of a stable income from outside Cyprus, minimum €24000 net per year for a single applicant, additional 20% (€4800) for a spouse and additional 15% (€3600) for each dependent child. Income can include remote work salaries, pensions, dividends, rental income, etc. Applicants will be asked to provide bank statements, tax returns, and employment contracts as proof

  • Accommodation: Proof of one-year lease agreement (certified contract with tax stamps and receipts for payments) or proof of purchase of property (certified contract with tax stamps, receipts for payment) or title deed in name of the applicant.

  • Health Insurance: A valid medical insurance policy covering medical expenses in Cyprus from local or international insurance company. The policy must cover inpatient and outpatient treatments and removal of mortal remains.

  • Local Bank Account: Proof of Cyprus bank account with sufficient balance to demonstrate financial stability. It is recommended to deposit minimum €10000 to increase chances of approval or show proof of stable future monthly payments.

  • Bank Guarantee: Third-country applicants have to provide a bank guarantee to cover expenses of forced repatriation. The guarantee amount depends on the home country of the applicant: Middle Eastern countries €350 per person; Eastern European countries and Russia: €550 per person; Asian and American countries: €850 per person.

  • Clean Criminal Record: Applicant and adult dependents must provide police certificate from their home country, translated by certified translator and 'apostilled' .
